​My name is Patrick Etta. Art is my gift but as I grew older and aware, I found and have accepted photography as my vocation, my air, my passion and possibly the one thing that will drive me nuts in a good way I guess.

 

A picture says a thousand words they say. I realised that when I got my first DSLR (Nikon D60); I came to the conclusion that it is actually more than a thousand words because photographs have ways of recreating moments. Now I shoot with a Nikon full frame camera (D700) and it is so different when I look through the view finder, I find myself in a whole new world. I see textures, colours, contrast, shapes and all the beauty clearer than normal...I don’t know how that works but I do.

 

I love black and white photographs because they seem timeless and less conflicting. Have you ever seen a photograph with all the beautiful colours and yet don’t see the subject of the photograph? Well, I have... but with black and white photographs, you are just concerned with contrast, texture, composition, tones which brings all your senses to life. Don’t get me wrong though I also photograph in colours.

 

I will say my preferred lens is the Nikon 35mm F1.8. I call her Trish. Trish is my faithful companion to every event and location and has never let me down. I don’t think so much about how I intend to shoot a scene; I primarily concern myself with the way the scene makes me feel.
